Hum of The Universe (2015)
Hum of the Universe was inspired by forms and principals associated with Platonic Solids, Sacred Geometry and the Golden Mean.
There are five platonic solids, each a geometric form. Studied first by the ancient Greeks, they were later named after the philosopher Plato who considered them the basic building blocks of all creation. He also claimed they had metaphysical properties, expressed through their relationship to earth, air, fire, water and ether.
The Golden Mean, represented by the Greek letter phi, a mysteriously occurring natural number, has inspired and intrigued mathematicians, artists, architects, biologists and mystics since ancient times. Phi is found throughout the natural world, in flower petals, seed heads, shells, tree branches, and in the human body, weather patterns and spiral galaxies.
Some spiritual traditions advocate meditating on sacred geometric forms to enhance healing, align energy centers in the body and induce transcendental states. Believers maintain that if these forms are grounded in the experience of self-awareness, they have the potential to educate and awaken the soul.
Wherever we look, we find these geometrical forms and mathematical representations, from the farthest reaches of the universe to the single cell within the body, the microcosm reflected in the macrocosm.
